On Friday, March 11, 2011 at 2:46 p.m. local time, a 9.0-magnitude earthquake struck Japan, the largest in recorded history. The after effect resulted in a tsunami that swept the coast of Japan and as of today over 10,000 deaths and widespread destruction has rocked Japan. Facing significant problems for its future, especially for its coastal communities like Fukushima, Japan's standard of living grows worse by the day. Clean water, edible food, and fear of radiation are just some of the issues Japan must reconcile with.
The South Bay has always been a community that knows how to raise funds for all types of causes, especially natural disasters like earthquakes, and the fundraising events to help Japan have begun to dot the landscape of the Internet. So, we at South Bay Events have put this page together to compile a list of events, venues, and organizations that in the near future will host an event around the South Bay to aid Japan in its recovery. If you happen to be apart of such an event and don't see it below, e-mail us and we'll do our best to post it.
