Hawaiian “slack-key” guitarist, JIM “KIMO” WEST is one of the few masters of this acoustic guitar style known in Hawaii as “ki ho’alu”, literally “loosen the string.” Besides performing traditional songs, he is best known for creating new compositions and tunings and his original work has been featured in Disney TV movies, Honda commercials, documentaries and independent feature films.

Kimo is also well known as long-time guitarist for the world’s most successful musical satirist, “Weird Al” Yankovic and also works as a composer for film and TV in Los Angeles. Kimo is a 2008 winner of the Hawaii Music Awards for Slack Key. He is also a two-time winner of the LA Treasures Award for his efforts in keeping this important acoustic guitar tradition alive.

Special guests steel guitarist, MARTY RIFKIN of Bruce Springsteen’s band and hula dancers, AMANDA TAKETA & KEVIN TSUSUI will dance to accompany.
