DON'T MISS THE 38TH ANNUAL MANHATTAN BEACH HOMETOWN FAIR THIS WEEKEND!!!

Swell Magnet Surf Forecast

Wednesday, looks to be a little bigger. Although the SW swell will be history we'll see some fresh, steeply angled surf out of the NW move in and put the top West facing beaches into the head high to overhead zone. *Some of the projection models have it going WELL OVERHEAD, so stay on your toes. The tides look reasonable and the weather will be decent as the high pressure system backs off a bit and temps cool down.

Thursday morning will be a bit smaller, but the West facing breaks will continue to dish up shoulder to head high sets. The tides and conditions will remain reasonable, but the local beach breaks will have a tough time producing any quality waves until some snad bars are formed or we see a little wind swell mix in.

By Friday morning morning will see another dip in size as the NW energy backs down quickly through the day. The best West facing breaks will see waist to chest high sets in the morning and fade later in the day. The conditions look to be mostly clean again with light West winds at 2-3 MPH early and afternoon breezes will get up to 10 MPH. The air temp will stay in the low 70's.

For Saturday morning morning should see a little more swell again, as a combination of small, NNW, (305-310 degrees) and a SW, (210-220 degrees) show up for the morning session. The conditions look tolerable again with light onshore winds at 2-5 MPH early and afternoon breezes will get up to 10 MPH. The air temp will remain in the low 70's.

On Sunday morning looks like more of the same with little pulses of SW and steep long interval NW energy bending into the top deep water, West facing beaches. The conditions don't look to differ much with light and variable winds at 2-4 MPH early and onshore's at 8-10 MPH in the afternoon. The air temp will dip to 69 degrees.

The current water temps are as follows - Newport 67 degrees, Huntington 67 degrees, the South Bay showed as 64 degrees, Santa Monica 63 degrees and Malibu 62 degrees.

This is M.D., the Surf Dr., delivering more hollow promises.

Duck, Dip, Dive, and Dodge with the World Dodgeball Society in their Open Gym: Monday, October 4, 8:00 - 10:00 pm in Torrance

The legend of the Dodgeall game continues into adulthood this Fall as the World Dodgeball Society teams up with Torrances's state of the art South Coast Soccer facility to bring people together in the spirit of fun with a splash of nostalgia. The WDS is expanding its reach by inviting the South Bay to participae in an "Open Gym" October 4th from 8:00 - 10:00 pm at South Coast Soccer City, 540 Maple Ave. in Torrance.

The Torrance Open Gym allows all players, ladies and gentleman alike, to test their skills and get to know the way to play before joining a team. New-to-dodgeball players will receive the added benefit of a welcome introduction and rundown of rules to get them up to speed. Cost for the two-hour open gym is $5, and anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to drop by, though it’s 21 and up for the weekly after-hours meet-up at a nearby bar. The Torrance league is played with soft no-sting balls and is great for coed dodgeball beginners; no experience is necessary, making it a fun adult sport for all skill levels. Registration for the season is open. You can sign up with a full team or as a loner and WDS will place you on a team. The season will kick off October 11th for 10 weeks.

The WDS is the premier co-ed sports and social organization based on nostalgia and camp of the 80s. For more information, please visit the WDS website.

CREME DE LA CREPE
S.B.E.'S RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH: SEPTEMBER

A French sidewalk creperie two blocks from the beach? That serves smoked trout and escargot as appetizers, luncheons of panini, beef bourguignon and quiches, as well as crêpes? You're not dreaming.

This charming bistro offers crepes along with a variety of French-style cuisine.

With restaurants in Redondo Beach, Long Beach, Pasadena, and Manhattan Beach, in addition to Hermosa Beach, Creme de la Crepe offers brunch, lunch and dinner. Serving salads, soups, sandwiches and entrees in addition to its signature crepes, Creme de la Crepe also offers dinner specials and cheese fondue.

They are famous for their amazing crepes. Sweet or savory? When it comes to the crepes, that is the question. The most popular choices include the Montagnarde—raclette cheese over proscuitto and potatoes—and the Décadente— flambéed cinnamon baked apples with brown sugar. Devoted Francophiles can also feast on omelettes, salads, quiche, fondue and beef bourguignon.
