Swell Magnet Surf Forecast

Thursday morning looks a hair smaller and less consistent but top West facing beaches will still be rifling in some ass kicker sets that will go way overhead. The beach breaks may be doable at high tide, but if it get's as big as we think, you'll be hard pressed to dig up a corner, (with such a long interval swell), as the tide drops.

The conditions should be great as as the high pressure strengthens and winds out of the NNE jump up to 6-10 MPH at most spots while the beaches that are below the passes and canyons see some 15-30 MPH plus gusts. Look for a high air temp of 71 degrees.

Friday morning should take another dip in size with the top breaks going shoulder high to head high plus, (possibly some overhead sets still roaming the plains for the best West facing beaches). The sets will be less consistent, and the wave size will drop all over, so the tides will become a more relevant issue for the smaller spots.

The conditions will be good again with winds continuing out of the NNE at 6-12 MPH through the morning and then we'll see light breezes out of the West until sundown. Look for a high air temp of 73 degrees.

Saturday morning (just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water) another, possibly even stronger swell will roar into town and build in through day. Even at first light it should be PUMPING. The deep water, canyon spots will be DOH plus by days end.

The beach breaks will likely be nothing more than a Navy Seal exercise, but keep in mind that there is a "Biggest Wave of the Winter Contest" which runs from Dec. 1 and continues through March 31 and the wave can be ridden anywhere from Palos Verdes, on the south, and D and W Jetty in El Segundo, on the north.. The winner gets a cool $1000.00 clams and bragging rights, so if you're going to man up, bring your photo guy!

By Sunday morning looks be another mack daddy of a day with continued DOH plus bombs out of the NW for the premiere breaks. Be sure too check the updated forecast on Thursday.

The conditions should improve again as another blast of offshore winds moves in for the AM session and blow in the double digit range all day long. Look for a high of 61 degrees.

This is M.D., the Surf Dr., delivering more hollow promises.

BOUZY GASTROPUB
S.B.E.'S RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH: JANUARY

You know that bar on the corner that serves up tasty microbrews, seasonal wines and an array of pub food that blends sophistication and comfort? Well, all neighborhoods should be equipped with such an establishment and it so happens that nestled in the heart of Redondo Beachs Riviera Village there is such a place. The Bouzy [boo-zee] Gastropub pairs French, American, and Asian food fare with an ever-changing assortment of off-brand, organic cocktails, microbrews, and wines that culminate in an authentic, local pub experience brought to you by the owners of Chez Melange.

The Bouzy Gastropub took shape when Chez Melange moved out of the Palos Verdes Inn on Pacific Coast Highway and into to its current location on 1611 South Catalina Avenue over three years ago. The entrance to Bouzy sits right in front of Chez Melange. The atmosphere here has a relaxed, smoky-wooded décor with comfortable bar stools, tables, booths and an attentive staff ready to serve you. The Menu is long and two-sided, one side for libations and the other for food, so you may need a second to digest all Bouzy has to offer.

The menu is never the same and is consistently refreshed with new & seasonal snacks, burgers, sandwiches, and beverages, pre-dominantly of the alcoholic sort. You can share a plate of chicken liver or hand-cut french fries with truffles and a pint of Old Speckled Hen, one of England's finest craft beers. If you're in the mood for a lager, try Iron City Beer in a bottle or sip on a locally brewed pale ale from The Strand Brewing Co., you might even get to drink a beer that's been brewed in bourbon soaked barrels. The real treat though comes in burger form at Bouzy.

The Chez Burger and the Pancho Burger are hands down some of the tastiest burgers in the South Bay. You might need a knife and fork to tackle these miraculous creations as their stacked high and the Pancho Burger comes with a chile relleno. Head on down to Bouzy soon and experience your local, neighborhood Gastropub.
