Catalina Classic Paddleboard Race
While most residents in the South Bay were still in bed, a select group of crazy watermen were finishing a 32-mile race from the Isthmus of Catalina Island to the Manhattan Pier. Contestants left at 6:00 a.m. and scratched across the Channel, with the first contestants arriving around 5 hours later. Congratulations to Chad Carvin on his 1st place finish, setting an all-time record! By the way, an 8-foot Mako shark "harassed" several of the paddlers during this year's event. Fiesta Hermosa This Weekend!!
Somehow, summer is already almost over :( But, your last chance to finish it off with a bang is coming this Labor Day Weekend: Saturday, August 30 to Monday, September 1. The Beer Garden just south of Hermosa Pier is always packed, and it's your last chance to enjoy live music (on 2 separate stages) in the sun. For much more information, head over to the site.
