Local H w/Left Brain Heart @ Brixton: Friday, June 18, 2010- 7:00 pm

Local H is an American rock duo, formed by Scott Lucas (lead vocals, guitar, bass) and Joe Daniels (drums) in Zion, Illinois in 1987. Local H's 1996 album, As Good as Dead, includes the top 10 hit "Bound for the Floor". More recently the band (now with drummer Brian St. Clair) has received extensive critical acclaim. Author, rock critic and Rolling Stone contributor Greg Kot and the Chicago Tribune named the band its 2008 Chicago band of the year, calling them "as good a rock band as any to call Chicago home in the last decade."

Online Metacritic calls Local H "rock’s greatest unknown two-man band" and says of their newest album, 12 Angry Months, "the ten year anniversary of Pack Up the Cats marks not some complacent CD reissue with bonus tracks, but rather a great new album that flips the bird to anyone who thought Local H was history along with their era."

AIMEE'S BISTRO

The best French restaurant in the South Bay is located in a strip mall on PCH. We’re not kidding. Step in the doors of Aimee’s Bistro, and the cozy, candlelit interior will make you forget all about the suburban parking lot outside – and that’s even before you taste the food. From start to finish, a meal at Aimee’s is a solid lesson in fine dining. Start by navigating through the extensive wine list – the wait staff will be happy to help you match something to your meal if you feel a bit lost.

Though reasonably priced for the quality of the food that is served, their weekend menu is something of a special occasion affair. For those on a budget, Aimee’s offers mid-week dinner specials. On Tuesday through Thursday, as well as Sundays, $19.99 gets you four-courses from their prix fixe menu. Tuesdays and Wednesdays also boast a three-course filet mignon dinner for $29.95, including salad and crème brûlée.
