Swell Magnet Surf Forecast

Thursday morning looks like more of the same, with sheepish, knee to waist high surf up and down the coast. The S/SW facing breaks will do slightly better with some periodic, waist high sets out of the South. The conditions look iffy with variable winds out of the West at 2-4 MPH until around 10AM. The afternoon the winds will get up to 12 MPH. The high air temp will be 70 degrees.

For Friday morning, unfortunately, we're in for more of the same lackluster surf with knee to waist high background swell just about everywhere. The conditions look fair early, with variable winds out of the SSE at 3-4 MPH until around 10AM. The afternoon the winds will get up to 12 MPH. The high air temp will be 68 degrees

On Saturday morning we should see continued Hurricane swell for the exposed South facing breaks. We'll have to keep an eye on Celia's strength and movement over the next couple of days to nail down the size and direction of the swell, but it's a safe bet that the extreme South facing will be in business with at least chest high sets. The conditions look fair early, with variable winds out of the SSE at 1-3 MPH until around 10AM. The afternoon the winds will get up to 12 MPH. The high air temp will be 68 degrees

Sunday could be a pretty fun surf day as some fresh, South swell moves in late Saturday and should be working for Sunday morning. This energy should be good for waist to chest high sets for the top South facing beaches.

Hands Across The Sand: Saturday, June 26, 2010 -
11:00 am

Hands Across the Sand is a movement made of people of all walks of life and crosses political affiliations. This movement is not about politics it is about protection of our coastal economies, oceans, marine wildlife, and fishing industry. Let us share our knowledge, energies and passion for protecting all of the above from the devastating effects of oil drilling.

Hands Across the Sand is now international. Any person in any country may plan events on this website. This is a peaceful gathering of the people of the world. Planning an event is as simple as this:

* Go to your beach on June 26 at 11 AM in your time zone.
* Form lines in the sand and at 12:00, join hands.

The image is powerful, the message is simple. NO to Offshore Oil Drilling, YES to Clean Energy.

Locally, organizers and participants will be meeting at 4th Street in Manhattan Beach at 11:00 a.m. Please check out the main site for more info!!

Elviss Simmons & The Memphis Strutters: Friday, June 25, 2010 - 8:00 PM - close

Onstage, Elviss is neither smart nor perceptive, but has an ego that fills the room. Ergo, he has no idea that his band actively despise him giving rise to highly entertaining on-stage antics. The band mercilessly abuse Elviss and he remains gloriously oblivious. Meta: Please don't spoil the joke by telling him. Don't worry. Elviss won't read this. The management put together a separate web site just for him. Besides, he's not much of a reader. As Elviss likes to say, "If the internet has a use besides clown porn, I don't want to know about it."

Elviss' backing band, "The Memphis Strutters", is composed of a rhythm section (guitar, drums and stand-up bass), a horn section (tenor sax, baritone sax and two trumpets), and a trio of female backing singers. The music is as much a train wreck as Elviss himself: rockabilly lounge versions of Kiss songs and heavy guitar versions of classic Elvis songs. In a nutshell, it's a Hunka Hunka Burnin' Love Gun.

South Bay Events has a special Guest List! Email bizops@southbayevents.com to get on the free list!

Also, Brixton will also be serving peanut butter & banana & bacon sandwiches in honor of Elvis! Also, if guests dress in anything Elvis/KISS related, they get fun drink specials all night long, too!

S.B.E.'S RESTAURANT OF
THE MONTH - JUNE:
AIMEE'S BISTRO

The best French restaurant in the South Bay is located in a strip mall on PCH. We’re not kidding. Step in the doors of Aimee’s Bistro, and the cozy, candlelit interior will make you forget all about the suburban parking lot outside – and that’s even before you taste the food. From start to finish, a meal at Aimee’s is a solid lesson in fine dining. Start by navigating through the extensive wine list – the wait staff will be happy to help you match something to your meal if you feel a bit lost.

Though reasonably priced for the quality of the food that is served, their weekend menu is something of a special occasion affair. For those on a budget, Aimee’s offers mid-week dinner specials. On Tuesday through Thursday, as well as Sundays, $19.99 gets you four-courses from their prix fixe menu. Tuesdays and Wednesdays also boast a three-course filet mignon dinner for $29.95, including salad and crème brûlée.
