KING HARBOR CHRISTMAS BOAT PARADE: SUNDAY, DECEMBER 13 - 5:30 pm

Nothing says California Christmas events like a boat parade. Combining the love of California beaches and waterways with the spirit of celebration, dedicated yachtsmen spend thousands of dollars on intricate lighting systems to deck out their boats and yachts for the annual King Harbor Christmas Parade. The seaworthy vessels within the channel follow a route that sweeps past vantage points where the public can watch the spectacular display of colors, designs and themes, often tied to the Southern California lifestyle.

This year the nautical parade will feature Emmy Award-winning Grand Marshall Rick Hearst of General Hospital daytime "soap" television series. He'll stand aboard the lead boat and wave to the crowd throughout the parade route, providing opportunities for the public to get a glimpse of this Hollywood celebrity. An annual tradition for over 15 years, the holiday boat parade held each year in mid-December usually runs 90 minutes at dusk (around 5:30 p.m.) Best viewing areas for this event are the restaurants and breakwall areas in the Redondo Beach harbor. Yacht and boat owners can sign up to participate (fee charged) at khyc.com. The event is sponsored by the King Harbor Yacht Club.

MB HOLIDAY FIREWORKS FESTIVAL: SUNDAY, DECEMBER 13 - 6:30 pm

The Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks Festival is held at the Pier every year in December. This year's Fireworks Festival will take place on December 13, 2009 and will include the following events:

•3:00 PM - Snow Park opens
•4:00 PM - Bounce Park opens •4:00 PM - Santa arrives
•5:00 PM to 6:30 PM - Musical Entertainment
•6:30 PM - Fireworks Show begins

Bring blankets, beach chairs and coolers to pick a spot for the spectacular show.

THE MONTH: TIN ROOF BISTRO


The Tin Roof Bistro embodies Mike Simms’ and Chef Anne Conness’ vision of a wine country local’s hangout – casual, fun atmosphere combined with chef inspired cuisine and professional, detail oriented service. This great combination allows guests to feel comfortable showing up in blue jeans and a T-Shirt on their way back from the beach or a suit and tie on their way home from work.

Casual Atmosphere - After soaking in the TRB’s Santa Barbara mission architecture, you’ll enter and be greeted by a triple arched Brunswick mahogany bar. Large bowls of colorful citrus for making cocktails sit atop a twenty-foot long bar perfect for grabbing a glass of wine or a bite to eat. As you explore further towards the display kitchen, you enter our lounge, also referred to as the wine library. Knotted wood shelves display our wines, divided up by wine region. Windows surround the North side of the dining room, allowing our guests to gaze out onto the fountain in our courtyard. I describe the décor as thoughtful and collective, creating little vignettes for dining areas. We offer two separate outdoor dining experiences: our courtyard with full service and our front porch great for appetizers, drinks and a game of bocce.
