Swell Magnet Surf Forecast

Thursday should be a conversion day, as we finally start to see something that resembles swell. This energy should fill in through the day and put the premier spots in the head high plus zone before sundown. I wouldn't get too hopped up for the morning session, just in case the swell shows up later than expected. Mother Nature owes us a couple favors so hopefully the timeline is bumped up a bit and we see some sort of action right off the bat.

Friday
should be good right out of the blocks with the swell in full swing. This energy will be pushing in from fairly liberal 200 degrees, so it'll get into pretty much any break that has a peek at the South. The top spots should see headhigh to overhead sets through the day and into Saturday. The tides look a little high in the AM, but overall, most spots should be good for the morning session.

Saturday looks like another pretty solid day and on paper, compared to what we've been seeing lately, should be pretty damn good. The surf should remain in the sholder high to overhead zone at the most exposed South facing beaches.

By Sunday morning the swell will begin to back down but there will still be plenty of fun surf out there. The sets will dip into the chest to head high range and come in with less frequency, but at this point I'll take anything I can get. It looks like we'll finally see a decent little run of swell so have fun out there and get it while it's hot!

This is M.D., the Surf Dr., delivering more hollow promises.

CREME DE LA CREPE
S.B.E.'S RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH: SEPTEMBER

A French sidewalk creperie two blocks from the beach? That serves smoked trout and escargot as appetizers, luncheons of panini, beef bourguignon and quiches, as well as crêpes? You're not dreaming.

This charming bistro offers crepes along with a variety of French-style cuisine.

With restaurants in Redondo Beach, Long Beach, Pasadena, and Manhattan Beach, in addition to Hermosa Beach, Creme de la Crepe offers brunch, lunch and dinner. Serving salads, soups, sandwiches and entrees in addition to its signature crepes, Creme de la Crepe also offers dinner specials and cheese fondue.

They are famous for their amazing crepes. Sweet or savory? When it comes to the crepes, that is the question. The most popular choices include the Montagnarde—raclette cheese over proscuitto and potatoes—and the Décadente— flambéed cinnamon baked apples with brown sugar. Devoted Francophiles can also feast on omelettes, salads, quiche, fondue and beef bourguignon.
